“A sweet, kind, and incredible woman”: YouTuber Carlito announces the death of his mother

"Goodbye Mom." YouTuber Carlito, known for his duet with his friend McFly , announced his mother's death on Sunday in a video posted on their YouTube channel.
"Dear community, on July 31, 2025, my mother Jeannine Carlier passed away," the video begins. "As you knew her, it seemed important to me to tell you. And I think I need to."
To pay tribute to her, Carlito, whose real name is Raphaël Carlier, chose to broadcast 75 minutes of footage from a Vendée beach that his mother loved. "75 minutes in tribute to the 75th birthday of a sweet, kind, and incredible woman who always supported my brother and me in our projects," he wrote.
In the video description, Carlito asks the press not to reduce Jeannine Carlier to "the mother of" or "the ex of." She was the long-time partner of Guy Carlier , a famous television columnist.
Carlito thus provides insight into his mother's life and her passions. "A tall, elegant woman, a fan of nature, a lover of absurd humor, and with superb musical tastes (Léo Ferré, Juliette, Starmania), she gave everything for her two sons."
The videographer also took the time to thank the caregivers who cared for his mother. "Thank you to the entire team at the Côté de Lumière hospital in Les Sables d'Olonne. Thank you to the entire team at the CHD in La Roche sur Yon. Your skills and kindness allowed my mother to travel in the best possible conditions. You do a very difficult job, so important, you have all my respect," he proclaims.
Raphaël Carlier ends his text by assuring that he will soon return to YouTube. McFly and Carlito's channel, followed by just over 7.5 million people, had not posted a video since July 27.
"Strength, brother," wrote Mister V , another successful YouTuber, in the comments of the video. Since midday, messages of support and condolences from McFly and Carlito's subscribers have been pouring into social media.
